During a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Adam VanDerStuyf was named Superintendent of the North Salem Central School District.
VanDerStuyf had been serving as Acting Superintendent since Monday, July 22 after his predecessor, Duncan Wilson, was placed on administrative leave. The reason for this was not revealed by the district.
In a statement, VanDerStuyf said his appointment is "a responsibility that I take very seriously."
"I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve our students, families, faculty, and staff," he added.
VanDerStuyf, who has been with the district since 2015, has held roles such as Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services. His position before his appointment as Acting Superintendent was Deputy Superintendent.
He holds a Master of Education and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
In addition to VanDerStuyf's official appointment, the school board also named Kelly Rudyk as the district's next Director of Pupil Personnel Services effective Monday, Nov. 18.
Before this role, Rudyk also held the positions of English Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Wilson Reading Practitioner, and Supervisor of Special Education.
